in Tailgates, Tennessee

SEC football, tailgating on land and water, a 100,000 plus seat stadium, and fall in the Tennessee mountains? Is there anymore a tailgater could ask for? Come see what happens in good ole Rocky top on game day in Knoxville, TN. .

When planning your tailgate, the most important thing to do before you arrive is have your menu prepared! You need to know what you will be cooking on gameday and have all of the appropriate prep work done before you arrive. Here is some inspiration for your gameday menu based upon what I saw while tailgating outside Neyland Stadium.

The food at Tennessee is plentiful. You will find no shortage of.. sausage and peppers…

BBQ, Ribs, and beer can chicken (it is eaten pretty quickly so make sure you grab some while its there! )

creative desserts, and of course…

a little bit of moonshine and beer!

Game day in Knoxville requires you to wear your Vol Orange. How you display this orange can be in a variety of ways.

Some fans embrace the checkerboard print found in Neyland Stadium’s end zones…

some fans wear creative t-shirts…..

while some fans just get creative. When at Tennessee you can dress it up with dresses, scarves and suit jackets; or dress down with t-shirts and jerseys…

Whatever you choose, just make sure it is Tennessee Orange or white!

Like Washington, tailgating at Tennessee takes place on both land and water. You can’t go wrong with either, but if you have the chance, spending a day with the Vol Navy is an experience like non other. Here are some scenes from tailgating on the Tennessee River.

As you head towards Neyland Stadium, the view from the water is the best way to appreciate how massive this stadium is!

Tailgating with the Vol Navy is a great experience.

With ice and fuel delivery available..

and the ability to grill right there on the water…

How can it get better than this? Tailgating on water at Tennessee is great, but luckily the on land tailgating scene is just as impressive as well. On land, there are two choices. Concrete of grass.

There are a variety of concrete and asphalt parking decks and lost throughout the stadium, but the best is 6 story parking deck known as G-10. Here you will find some of the best and die hard Vol tailgaters. Here is what you you could expect to see at G-10.

If concrete isn’t your style, there is green space similar to the grove known as Circle Park, that you may find suits you better.

Whether it be grass, concrete or water, tailgating at Tennessee has the surface that fits you best!

Game day at Tennessee is big. See?

With a capacity of over 102,000, Neyland Stadium can fit a lot of tailgating fans. Just seeing this massive structure and the passionate fans around it is an amazing site! A must see on game day is the Vol Walk. About 3 hours before kickoff, fans begin lining up the sides of the road entering the stadium. As the team arrives and begins its walk into the stadium, the fans erupt! Here is what you will see.

If you like great fans, great football culture, and a variety of tailgating surfaces, then game day in Knoxville is the place for you!
