The mimosa is an early game tailgating standard. It and the Bloody Mary are the dynamic duo of pregame morning boozing. Breaking out the booze at 7:30 in the morning isn’t always the easiest thing to do, but there is something about mixing it with orange juice or tomato juice that makes it much more manageable. The Bloody Mary is another post in its self, so lets talk more about the mimosa. The mix of champagne and beer is a great combination, but the problem for tailgating is the champagne.
Sometimes you
A) forget it
B) don’t have room for it
or
C) don’t really want to spend the money on it when you are the only one in the group who like mimosas.
Here is my solution. My I introduce the Beermosa.
I suggest replacing the champagne with something readily available at a tailgate, BEER. A beermosa can be made with any light beer commonly found at a tailgate (Bud Light, Coors Light, Miller Lite, and work)
Personally I like merging my beermosa with a screwdriver and adding a shot of orange flavored vodka. That is completely up to you. Here is a video showing you how easy the beermosa is to make.
For your first time making a beermosa I suggest a 50/50 ratio of beer and OJ. Everyone hasĀ different tastes, so you can adjust the amounts to suit your tastes. As you can see in the video, I like to go for about a 65/35 mix.
If you have never tasted experienced the beermosa, you are probably thinking 1 of 2 things.
A) That sounds amazing, I have to try it!
or
B) Gross, why would you drink that!
All I can say is give it a try! At a morning tailgate you most likely have beer, vodka, and orange juice on hand, so no excuses. Grab a cup and try it!

this. is. INCREDIBLE. and i imagine it would be lovely with my favorite (i’m a n00b..eer…?) Blue Moon, especially since it’s always served with an orange anyway?!
this is going to be a great fall season…
Sarah, Blue Moon and OJ is actually an amazing combo! It’s definitely worth being called a beermosa!
My brother’s best friend calls this drink a “Man-mosa”!
That sounds amazing I have to try it
Have you ever heard of a lunchbox drop shot? We have a bar in Oklahoma City called Edna’s that’s famous for them. Fill 1/3 of a pint glass with a light pilsner or wheat beer, add a splash of orange juice, and drop a shot of amaretto into it. Chug. I’ve also realized that there’s no real need to drink it quickly, and it tastes delicious, so I’ve made full-sized glasses of the stuff. If you want to make it even stronger, try adding some whiskey. Dangerous!
I have! we used to do them in college, I am saving them for a shots post later. Adding whiskey sounds very dangerous, but intriguing
I recently tried this at a local breakfast spot where they call them “Manmosas”. Busch Light+OJ. Had to try it cause it sounded so crazy and was pleasantly surprised at how good it is! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I know what I’m going to start my day with tomorrow
Similar (but sweeter) premise to the classic “Lime ‘n’ Lager”
My friends and I have always loved this drink combo! We call it a “working class mimosa.”
