Like Houndstooth is to Alabama fans, this orange and white checkerboard pattern is loved by Vol fans ! Here is how you can make your own checkerboard cereal treat display!

You will need

2 greased 8×8 pans

3 tablespoons butter (separeated into two 1 and a 1/2 tbsp portions)

1 10 oz bag of marshmallows (separated into 2 equal portions)

6 cups of Rice Krispies Cereal (separated into two 3 cup portions)

Yellow and red food coloring

In a large saucepan over low heat melt 1 1/2 tbsp butter. Then add 5 oz (about 20) marshmallows. Stir continuously until melted. Add 12 drops yellow food coloring and 4 drops of red. Stir until the marshmallow mixture is a nice even orange color. Add 3 cups of Rice Krispies. Stir until combined. Spread into one of the greased 8×8 dishes. Press out to an even thickness.

Repeat process using remaining ingredients. This time omit the food coloring.

Let both pans cool. Remove squares from pan and cut each square into fourths, creating 8 squares. 4 orange and 4 white. Cut those 8 squares into fourths creating 32 squares (16 white and 16 orange)

Arrange squares in an orange and white checkerboard pattern. Alternate orange and white squares to create a design that is 8 squares across by 4 squares high. This creative assortment of cereal treats will surely get great reviews from all of your fellow Tennessee guests! When cutting out the squares, try and make them as even and uniform as possible, the neater the squares the better looking the final checkerboard will be!
